Underneath all the attachments and space bling on this project is a classic 6-shooter: A Ruger GP100. This is the 6 inch model chambered in .357 Magnum/.38 Special.

I considered a couple different revolvers as the foundation for this build and landed on the GP100 for a couple reasons. I liked that it has a 6 inch barrel, it's chambered in .357 mag, there is a picatinny rail available for it off the shelf (other revolvers require drilling and tapping the barrel to attach a rail) and, I could get our hands on one.

Additionally, the all black version with the nickel hammer and trigger seemed pretty space-y. Other wheel guns, especially some of the pocket revolvers are decided not space-y. Same with the pink ones.
